Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, local authorities are asking all visitors to postpone trips to the qathet region, from Saltery Bay to Lund, including the Sunshine Coast Trail. Recreation Sites and Trails BC (RSTBC) has advised that people may continue to access recreation trails to day hike and recreate, but visitors are reminded to practice social distancing, stay home when you are sick and follow additional measures outlined by public health experts to prevent infection and transmission of COVID-19.
For those who decide to use the trails, be mindful that you are responsible for your own safety and should exercise additional caution as trails may not be groomed or maintained during this time. Based on the latest recommendations from the RSTBC, we are asking that all hikers refrain from using the huts, outhouses and other recreation facilities where there is a risk of increased social contact, contact with frequently touched surfaces, until further notice. We consider the health and safety of our peers, volunteers, and visitors our number one priority, and we hope you understand these measures during this time.
