The Sunshine Coast Trail is Canada’s longest hut-to-hut hiking trail. The huts are a key feature of the trail.
Anyone is welcome to use them. The huts are free. They are provided on a first-come, first served basis.
The Sunshine Coast Trail and its huts were built and are maintained by the qathet Parks and Wilderness Society (qPAWS). The first huts on the trail were built in 2009 and the most recent in 2021. Literally thousands of volunteer hours have gone into building the huts and camping areas. Builders include qPAWS directors and members, as well as the Bloody Old Men’s Brigade ( BOMB Squad), the Powell River Rotary Club, the Powell River ATV Club and folks like you. The huts were made possible by funding from Island Economic Coastal Trust (ICET), BC Transmission Corporation/BC Hydro, Union of BC Municipalities, BC Parks, the Powell River Community Forest/City of Powell River, many business and community organizations and trail supporters from around the world.
We’d love to hear your thoughts! Each hut has a guest book where you can share your impressions about the huts and your experiences on the trail. You can also leave a message on our Facebook group page. To report damage to a hut or make recommendations on how to improve the huts or the trail, please use our contact form.
We’re proud of the huts. Our hope is that they will provide enjoyment for many years. We trust you will use them with respect. Please leave them in the same, or better, shape than you found them in.

Note: Other huts are available on the trail that are not built or supported by qPAWS. These include the Outdoor Learning Centre (Powell River School District) and qathet huts (qathet district) at Haywire Bay and two (2) cabins on Inland Lake managed by BC Parks.
